La Catrina es representada por la imagen de una calavera ataviada con un sombrero de plumas a la moda europea del siglo XIX.
Su nombre original, Calavera Garbancera, proviene de la desginación a las personas que vendían garbanza, y que, pese a tener sangre indígena, pretendían ser europeos, renegando de su raza y de su herencia cultural: “en los huesos, pero con sombrero francés con plumas de avestruz”.
Hoy en día, la Catrina forma parte de la cultura popular de México y se ha convertido en el símbolo por excelencia de la celebración del Día de Muertos.

This Catrina looks amazing in the pictures, but even better in front of you. The wife loved it as a Christmas present.the only problem now is finding her a partner so she's not alone. When I saw the delivery time from Mexico to the UK I thought there was no chance of making it so quick, but I was wrong the Catrina arrived on time(but there is a customs charge). Overall I wouldn't think twice about ordering from this shop again, the whole experience was spot on. 5 Stars from me.
I'd looked for a long time to find a larger Katrina and this one did not disappoint. Extraordinary artisan work. Vibrant colors and meticulous attention to detail. It will have a place of honor in our home.
